FLL sacensībās komandā ir no 2 līdz 10 bērniem. Bērnu vecums ir no 9 līdz 16 gadiem. Katrai komandai ir divi treneri. FLL sacensībās komandu vērtē robotu spēlē, par izpētes projektu un to, kā komanda atbilst FLL pamatvērtībām.
